Setting Up Live Chat

Add the Helplane chat widget to your website for real-time customer support.

Installing the Widget

  • Go to Settings in the left sidebar
  • Click Chat Widget > Deploy
  • Copy the embed code shown
  • Paste it into your website before the closing </body> tag

The widget will appear on your website immediately.

Widget Customization

The widget inherits your brand color from Settings > Brand Profile. You can also customize:

  • Widget position (bottom-right or bottom-left)
  • Welcome message
  • Offline message when no agents are available

Intent Flows

Create automated conversation flows for common queries:

  • Go to Settings > Chat Widget > Intent Flows
  • Click Create Flow
  • Design your flow with messages, buttons, and actions
  • Save and activate the flow

Intent flows can collect information, answer FAQs, or route customers to the right team before connecting with an agent.

Testing Your Widget

After installation:

  • Visit your website in an incognito/private browser
  • Click the chat widget
  • Send a test message
  • Check your Helplane inbox - the message should appear

Troubleshooting

Widget not appearing?

  • Verify the embed code is placed correctly
  • Check for JavaScript errors in browser console
  • Ensure your domain is not blocked

Messages not arriving?

  • Check your inbox filters - try "All" to see all conversations
  • Verify the correct brand is selected
